Our Farming Families
You don’t have to go far out the road to find the farms where our oats are grown, and the farmers we’ve known and worked with for seven generations. We believe that working closely with the same farming families each year means that only the best oats make the journey from the field to your table.
Because those families are such an important part of our story, we wanted to share some of their stories with you...
Harry Gray
Harry believes that the mild climate here in County Waterford is just the job for growing the best cereals. In our ledgers you can see first records of oat harvests brought in by Harry’s great-grandfather back in 1911. Today, Harry is proudly passing on all of that knowledge and experience to his sons, Don and Gordon.
Ned Morrissey
For three generations, growing oats has been a family affair for the Morrisseys. From Ned’s grandfather to his father and now through to his son Eamon, the Morrisseys have real pride in the oats they produce for Flahavan’s.
Micheál Coffey
Micheál puts the high quality of his oats down to decades of nurturing the land that he farms in the beautiful Comeragh mountains. With his knowledge of climate, seasons and growing oats, Micheál knows how to produce the best, every harvest.
